How to Let Go Of Hurt

Everyone has been hurt before, whether is physical or mentally. A baby might get hurt by falling onto the ground while trying to learn how to walk, an adult might feeling hurt by someone’s mean words.

If you feel emotionally hurt and painful and this feeling makes you feel very unhappy, you probably want to let go of the hurt for good, so you can move on and enjoy your life again.

The first reaction after we feel hurt is quite often to blame on others. Blaming others may make us feel better as we became the good person by thinking this way. However, it also leaves us powerless. What if you tell your boss that he was too strict and your boss said he didn’t. You have no control over other people’s reaction.

The first step to let go of hurt is to recognise your own feelings and understand why you feel this way. For example, a friend has bad mouthed you behind your back. You feel hurting and the reason of the hurt is because you feel she betrayed your friendship.

The next step is to make a decision to let go of the hurt as holding on to can only cause more pain and damage.

Then, you can try to express your pain. You may feel better after venting to good friends or family members.

Stop blaming others and try to forgive. Forgive yourself and others. It doesn’t mean we forget what has happened. It simply means you don’t rethink it, get over it and move forward.

Live at the moment; think about the things that make you happy.

Learn some new skills, meet some new people, and make yourself occupied instead of thinking negative things.

Practice some deep breathing exercise, or meditate to feel relaxed.

Let go of hurt is not easy, it may take longer time than you think, or it might just happens when time pass by. Remember, you have a choice, you can choose forgive and forget, don’t play victim and be miserable. Have courage to believe you deserve a happy life and live in the moment.
